Lydia Jones (Kansas City, MO)

In the winter of 205-2006, I began reading about women participating in multi sports. The very thought was both intriguing and intimidating.  I persevered in my reading and eventually hooked up with Peggy Donovan's women's only Tri 101. Unfortunately, family obligations did not permit me to participate or train with the team. However, this exposure to multisporting introduced me to Courtney Crutcher, found me rooting for Court at Heritage Park last Spring and enjoying breakfast with the Women's Triathlon Commimsson last July. I met some really "cool chicks" of all ages that morning!  In fact, I loaned my new road bike to a girl from New Jersey to ride in the 2006 Age Group Triathlon National Championship at Smithville Lake. I have not yet competed in a multisport event, but my bike was front and center last July!

This year, I hope to achieve a higher level of fitness, become a better runner, cyclist and maybe - if Court continues to tell me I won't drown - a better swimmer. I will be volunteering to be on the sidelines assisting the Define Fitness Training team whenever and wherever I am needed.

I have a TREK WSD 1000 road bike and a Raleigh M20 mountain bike. I also train with Rusty Collin's team, Run Kansas City.  My family includes college student sons Jonathan, 25 and Peter 22. I am married to David Porter. I work for Truman Medical Centers, Inc., Kansas City, Missouri as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a member of the corporate finance team.
