Kasey Clark

Hometown:  Currently residing in Louisville, CO (but I call California, Wyoming, Utah, Guam, and Hawaii my homes as well!)

Education:  B.A. in Philosophy from Colorado College, 2008, along with a minor in Environmental Issues

Occupation:  Bike shop employee-retail sales extraordinaire!

Discipline:  Road, and I dabble in mountain biking

Strengths:  Climbing, stage races, and strong sprint finishes

Former Teams:  GS Boulder (2009) and Colorado College Cycling Team (2004-2008)

Category:  2 (Road)

Years Racing:  1 serious, dedicated, focused year, and 4 quasi-disciplined seasons in college!

Objectives:  To race with a dedicated, talented, experienced group of women, and to learn as much as possible from them!  I want to experience women’s racing on a national level, and hope to be able to help our stronger, more experienced riders get a podium finish.  I also want to develop my time trialing skills, and enter into a working relationship with my biggest foe, the Wind!!!

Favorite Race:  Thus far, the Steamboat Springs Stage Race

Admirable Athlete:  Alison Dunlap, because she is also a Colorado College alum and she devoted much of her free time to helping our college cycling team develop, both on the road and in mountain biking.  She raced in college when only the guys were racing, and went on to become one of the strongest female racers.  Her dedication and drive are impressive, to this day.  And of course, my husband, for being a naturally gifted athlete who excels at anything he turns his mind to.

Unique Information or Story:  My dad used to race time trials and centuries in California with me on the back in a bike seat in California!!! And he used to win, even with my extra weight!

Most Embarrassing Race Moment:  My post-race embarrassing moment happened after the Lookout Mountain Hill Climb, in Golden, Colorado in 2006, when I was with Colorado College.  I had just finished the hill climb and my teammates and I were gathered around the car we had all driven up in.  I was roasting hot and there was a bottle on the bumper.  So I just grabbed it and started spraying my face and hair with it.  Everyone just gaped at me, as someone yells, “It’s Cytomax, it’s cytomax, not water!”  Too late!  I was not only still hot, but covered in sticky recovery drink mix!  Needless to say, it was a long drive home.
