2008 Objectives: Finish Ironman Louisville; Finish in the top 15% of age group at bigger races; decrease my run pace time; learn how to pace better on the bike; Place top 3 in any race!
Favorite race: Halfmax 2007. I never thought I could finish a race at that distance, but I did AND qualified for World Championships! It motivated me to sign up for Ironman Louisville 2008.
Admirable Athlete: Sister Madonna Buder. Anyone who can still compete at age 77 is AMAZING and so inspirational.
Unique information or story about you: Last year, I competed in the Memphis in May triathlon (2007) with a stress fracture in my ankle. Even though it hurt very badly, I am a stubborn athlete and I ran the whole 10K. By the end, it was completely broken and I was in a cast for 6 weeks. I guess I deserved that one!
Most embarassing (race) moment: At the Ole Miss Rebel Man Sprint triathlon 2007, and it was VERY early in the morning. The person marking my legs asked me if I was on a team. Since I was a member of Defined Fitness Training, LLC, I replied “Yes”. She wrote a “T” on the back of my calf, and I was wondering why she had written that instead of my age. I then figured out why. She was asking if I was on a RELAY, but said “team”. So, really, I think I was right and SHE was wrong! Anyway, I had to have them remark my leg, and the rest of the day people were asking what was written on my calf.
other tidbits/info: I was a diver at the University of Kansas from 2002-2006.
