Strengths: Running.  I’m not exactly fast, but that’s where I’m most comfortable with my endurance level

Category:  triathlon AG 30-34

Years Racing/training: 3

2008 Objectives: Improve my speed

Favorite race/event: Ironman Florida, but locally it would be any of the UltraMax events

Admirable Athlete: Elizabeth Fedofsky

Unique information or story about you: I can put my feet in my armpits, even 1 day post-IM :)

Most embarassing (race/training) moment:  Not too overly embarrassing, but I’d have to say it was having my feet slide out from under me when I tried to stop and falling down onto (and racking myself on) my bike before completely falling over at a busy intersection while out on a training ride.

Results/achievements I am proud of:  Completing my first marathon, first half-ironman, and first Ironman…..all in one year!

I began running recreationally after I graduated from college in 2000, participating in occasional 5K road races.  In 2004 I “tried a tri”, the inaugural Midwest Meltdown, and have been hooked ever since!  I completed my first marathon, my first half-iron distance triathlon, and my first Ironman in 2007.  Now that I know I’ve got some endurance, I’m looking to work on my speed a bit in 2008 and improve my times.  I definitely see more full Ironman races in my future, but I’d like to get a little faster first.  I’ve got two marathons planned for the season, and will be focusing on short-course triathlons.

I got married in November of 2006, and was sure to plan the wedding at a time that it wouldn’t interfere with my training.  I have a bachelors degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska and am an avid Husker fan, and a masters degree in urban planning from KU.  I’m currently employed as a community planning consultant with Bucher, Willis & Ratliff Corporation in Kansas City.

Tentative race schedule for 2008:

April- Oklahoma City Marathon

May- Heritage Park Triathlon

June- QuarterMax Triathlon

July- Shawnee Mission Triathlon

August- KC Women’s Triathlon

October- Chicago Marathon
