RIDE MOTIVATED…RIDE INSPIRED Why Do I Ride? Riding has become my passion and has been a blessed opportunity. It all started on the BMX track back home in Queen Creek, Arizona at the age of sixteen. While most girls my age were hitting the mall, I was hitting the dirt. That’s right, I was learning technical skills and smart maneuvering which made my transition to mountain biking and road riding that much easier. After a few years of sprinting around the BMX tracks, I bought my first mountain bike to expand my cycling abilities. In 2003, I was offered a cycling scholarship to Lees-McRae College where I continued to develop my biking skills into cross-country racing, downhill racing, road racing, and even cyclocross racing. During my four years of college, I was able to win five individual Collegiate MTB National Titles, as well as place on the podium many other times. Now a graduate and pro racer, I want to take the many things I have learned through college and racing to help those who are looking to better there own cycling abilities, as well as, live an active and healthy lifestyle.
Coaching Philosophy Its simple…no rider is the same as another. As an enthusiastic coach, I truly believe that every rider needs their own specific training program that fits their lifestyle. I want to provide each individual with a program that allows them to train with ease, as well as, prevent burnout. I understand that a set training program cannot always be followed to the "T." Therefore, I am available through email and phone to make any adjustments in the training schedule. From the start, I find it important to set goals, and reach those goals. To accomplish these goals I find it important to have great communication that includes answering questions, explaining the training program, race strategy, proper bike use, and many other topics. I feel that if the rider and coach are on the same page, then success can be found in the future. Specialties I find that there are four entities needed to be a great rider; fitness, technical skills, race smarts, and the ability to have fun no matter what. If you can possess all four of these, than you are headed for victory in any discipline of riding you take on. Mountain biking has become my biggest passion, but through experience I have also specialized in road racing and cyclocross racing. I would be more than happy to guide you in any or all of these disciplines. Personal Coaching As your personal coach, I will provide you with a monthly training program, that I can adjust at any time to your schedule, as well as constant communication, one on one rides (if possible), race strategy, bike fits (if possible), and the confidence needed to be a winner. Monthly program $85. Clinics I will also provide technical skills clinics for mountain biking, as well as, cyclocross clincs. Sessions would last two hours for $65. They would take place in the Boulder County area, unless other arrangements are made. Group sessions will be rated on the number of people joining. Clinics may also be held at races if arranged ahead of time. Contact Monique at mohein@msn.com if you'd like to initiate coaching services with her.
