Deb Holland (Lakewood, CO)

Hometown:  Hoffman Estates, Illinois (outside of Chicago)

Education:  BA in History from Indiana University; MA in History from University of Colorado; still taking classes all the time!

Occupation:  High school history teacher, D’Evelyn Jr/Sr High

Discipline:  Triathlons

Strengths:  That’s up for debate!  I like all three disciplines.  I grew up swimming, but turned to running after college.  These days, I like cycling the best.  I’ve competed in three marathons, numerous triathlons, and am training for Wisconsin Ironman in September 2008.

FormerTeams: None

Category: Age group, 35-39 & CAT 4

Years Racing:  I ran my first marathon in 2004 ten months after having my first daughter.  I have been racing ever since.

 2008 Objectives:

Austin Marathon, Feb: Goal is to run a Boston qualifying time of 3:45

Bolder Peak Triathlon Series, Summer: Sprint, Olympic, Half-Iron

Triple By-pass, July: 120 miles of cycling up three mountain passes

Horsetooth Reservoir 2.4 mile swim, August

          Wisconsin Ironman!!! September 2008

          Bearable Adventure Race  =)

Favorite race:  The Bearable Adventure Race.  My sister and partner-in-crime do this one together.  It’s just FUN!!!

Admirable Athlete:  Kevin Williams, D’Evelyn High School senior, runner extraordinaire.  He is one to watch for on the running circuit for years to come.  He won Colorado State Championships, and has broken numerous records at the high school level.  Not to mention he is the NICEST guy you will ever meet.

Unique information or story about you:  I really lead a very boring life.  I have a very supportive husband, two great girls who keep me energized, a life-long best friend who happens to be my sister, and love my job (usually!).  I have traveled a lot and want to do more.  My favorite trip was to Macchu Pichu in Peru and I lived in Venezuela for a year.

Most embarrassing (race) moment: Ending up on an IV after the Fort Collins Marathon is NOT a moment I’m proud of!
