Carol Hottman (Kansas City, KS) Hometown: Shawnee, KS Education: Master Science Administration Occupation: retired executive manager Discipline: cycling Strengths: I have great coaches! Category: Cat 4/masters
Years Racing/training: less than one year 2008 Objectives: to compete in state Senior Races and qualify for the National Senior Olympics in 2009. Favorite race/event: any that my daughter or husband race Unique information or story about you: on our 30th wedding anniversary, my husband said he was taking me shopping. Wouldn’t it be normal to assume we’d go look at jewelry? Well, we went to a bike shop. He explained that diamonds wouldn’t keep me alive, but a bike could. I explained that a diamond would keep HIM. I got a recumbent bike. Next year, I want a serious road bike to replace my current Trek hybrid, which I love! I started serious bike training on 9/22/07 and my goal is to ride a thousand miles by the end of the year. I am at 606 miles and have lost 20 pounds. I’ve gone from struggling to do 5 miles in a week, to doing 20-30 daily.
Admirable Athlete: Megan Hottman, she has inspired me to be healthy
Most embarassing (race/training) moment: as a newbie, there are too many to list.
Results/achievements I am proud of:
