Unique information or story about you : Prior to competing in triathlons I was a competitive swimmer for 12 years. I then went to the University of Washington and was on the crew team for 4 years, winning 2 Pac-10 and 1 National Championship title. After that, I took up Tae Kwon Do and progressed to the level of high red belt (2 levels below black belt). I had to quit when I got braces on my teeth, but that gave me a chance to focus on triathlons, which I had just discovered. I've competed in 5-8 triathlons per year over the past 7 years, including 3 Ironmans (Ironman Coeur d'Alene twice, and Ironman Arizona once).
Most embarassing (race) moment: Oh so many to choose from! Maybe falling over with my bike coming down on top of me at the dismount line in a sprint tri in 2003, just because my legs were so tired. Or in 2007 finding that I had put my orthotics in the wrong shoes (left ortho in the right shoe, and vice versa) and having to switch them in T2, losing 1min and falling from 4th to 5th place overall among women because if it.
